Welch's Unroll the Fun

Super excited to try this new fruit snack. I made a vlog post trying them if you want to check it out:

But basically they are fruit snacks made with real fruit juice, which I love. Not only is it healthier but I think it tastes better. They also have a new snack which is a fruit roll. They are also made from fruit juce but are also softer and yummier. So check them out next time you are shopping for a yummy and sweet snack for your kids.
I received these snacks complimentary in exchange for my review.

Late night snack time

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is stay up late, watching cooking shows and eat snacks. Right now Masterchef and The Next Food Network Star is on, 2 of our favorite shows. The only problem is they make me hungry! I always want a snack when I watch an episode. Thank goodness for Hormels Snackers, that have saved the day in more than one occasion.

These are my 2 favorites. Spinach and artichoke dip with chips or bread. I like any of their queso's with tortilla chips too.
I highly suggest putting one or two of these in your secret mom snack stash!

Perfect Appetizer in a Pinch

If you're having some games with some friends or need to bring an appetizer to someone house I perfect dish to share. This time of year I feel like there is lots of sweets going around and I like something a little different. I love me some homemade jalapeno jelly. Ever since Utah Mom's Life showed me how to make some its my new favorite thing to can in the fall. Recently I added a slight twist to my usual sack and it has made all the different. Its salami. I took Hormel's Gatherings with cheese, crackers, pepperoni and salami tray and added cream cheese and  jalapeno jelly. Layer a cracker, cream cheese, meat and some jalapeno jelly and enjoy. Now you can add a little kick to the usual meat, cheese and cracker tray.

Hormel Rev Meat Snack Mix's

Our family loves to be on the go. We look forward to car trips, outings and lots of adventures. Which also results in lots of eating and snacking on the go as well. I am always on the look out of good healthy snacks that we actually like. Especially things with protein. I was really looking forward to review the new Hormel Rev meat snacks.

Hormel has these new Rev Meat Snack Mix's that I love. I tried 3 different flavors. The Spicy BBQ & Bacon, Pepperoni Pizza, and Turkey Ranch. They also have Honey Mustard Bacon (One I can't wait to try) and a pepperoni and cheese snack mix. Each of them having 8-12 grams of protein.
The Spicy BBQ and Bacon tastes just like it sounds. It had a nice spicy BBQ flavor and lots of bacon in it. The BBQ comes from the BBQ seasoned bagel chips, the kick is from jalapeno bacon and it also has sourdough pretzels in it as well.
The Pepperoni Pizza Snack mix has cheese crackers and parmesan, tomato herb bagel chips, and pepperoni. Really cute little pepperoni to be specific. Perfect snack for that picky eating kid that loves pepperoni pizza.
My favorite was the Turkey Ranch Meat Snack mix. It comes with cracked pepper pita chips, ranch seasoned breadsticks and smoked turkey. It was addicting. I couldn't stop just after one cup, I had to eat two!

Cookies

Another reason I love Eagle Mountain is the nice and generous neighbors. We have one that had extra sugar cookies from the holidays she was giving away. The kids were so excited to frost them, they didn't care that they were pumpkins and Christmas trees. Finally for an afternoon snack we decorated the cookies.  While the cookies were in the oven I decided to make some yummy frosting. Adrianna got to the blue batch while I was mixing a pink batch, she is one of my messiest kids.

Kadan wanted blue frosting to represent water Pokemon.

Yesenia used every kind of sprinkle I brought out (good thing I only put half of them on the table.)

Adrianna just painted hers and didn't eat any of it. I think she was full from all the frosting she snuck.

Mean while the baby slept. Ok, I played with her a little bit too! You know how some people say, "I'm not really a baby person," or things similar to that, I totally am a baby person. I love me some baby time.  Overall the kids had a blast, and the countdown till Dad gets home went by quicker.
Some odd reason my dad thinks I am so cruel to his granddaughter, weird?!

Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree

I sometimes get these crazy idea's and I fly by the seat of my pants. My husband is very use to it and my kids sometimes are ok with it. This time I randomley decided it would be fun to pop popcorn from an air popper with no lid on. I could only imagine the kids laughter while we tried to catch all the popcorn in our bowls and mounths, similar to the game Elefun only yummier.

It started out fine, the kids were so anxcious for them to start popping.

Then as they started to pop out it was not as much fun. The kernels were much hotter than I thought they would be! Kadan seemed to be ok with it, Yesenia not as much. It went a little like this...

I don't think this entry gets me a nomination for mommy of the year award!

Crepes

It was yet another crazy day at our house. Kadan had basketball practice at 5:30, which is right when we usually eat. So we had an early dinner of grilled cheeses with out dad. After practice I thought some sweet crepes was a fun more filling snack. Now all my kids want for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack is crepes. If its anything different (which it usually is) all I hear is whining thru the meal. There are not a lot of meals my whole family enjoys and I don't like making more than one thing for dinner. My kids don't understand how crepes can't be the solution to that problem every day. Kadan even told me he wrote in his journal at school, "My mom let me have an unhealthy dinner last night." Glad I'm doing such a good job giving my kids balanced meals!

This is one of my favorite crepes recipes which was given to me by my sister.

Caramel Apple Crepes Sauce
1Cup packed brown sugar
4 Teaspoons cornstarch
1 Cup whipping cream
2 Tablespoons apple brandy, brandy or apple juice
1 Tablespoon butter or margarine
2 Cups of thinly sliced apples (I peel mine and I use green apples)
In a large saucepan stir together brown sugar and cornstarch.
Stir in whipping cream and apple brandy, brandy or apple juice.
Add the apples, I use green so they don't get as mushy when they cook.
Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly,
then stir for 2 more minutes.
Enjoy on your crepes.
