A few years ago a long time friend of mine taught some women from her neighborhood how to make pot stickers. My mom and I were lucky enough to be included in that group. Now every year for Chinese New Year I make them as part of our dinner. Although this year I couldn't find gyoza wrappers so I used won ton wrappers instead, which just means they are square not round. After a you tube search on how to fold them it worked out fine. Well as long as I made them, my husbands were a little odd looking!

My kids all loved the sweet and sour chicken. Yesenia probably only liked it cause I told her the recipe had kethcup in it. Looks like I have a new family favorite that all can enjoy, a rarity in my house.
On top of that the local Chinese cafe here also sold me approximately 30 fortune cookies for only $2.00! So we dipped them in white chocolate and sprinkled red sprinkles on them. Red is the color for good luck if you can't tell there's a theme here. The whole meal was a lot of work, but well worth the fun. The kids enjoyed reading their Chinese zodiacs, coloring year of the snake and watching Kung Fu Panda.
